Vulnerability Management Security Engineer - Barcelona - Permanent or Freelance Contract

For one of our top clients in Barcelona, we are looking for a Vulnerability Management Security Engineer to join a long-term project.


Responsibilities

  • Perform internal penetration testing.
  • Manage vulnerability processes.
  • Detect, analyze, and propose solutions to remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Develop automation across different areas.

Required Skills

  • 5-8 years of experience as a Security Engineer, and 3-4 years of non-recent experience in Pentesting.
  • Alternatively, 3-4 years of recent experience combining Pentesting and Security Engineering.
  • Pentesting: experience with any tools is acceptable.
  • Vulnerability Management: 3-4 years of experience.
  • Experience in process automation.
  • Experience in Threat Intelligence and Incident Response.
  • Fluent English. Spanish is preferred.
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS) and CI/CD (Secure Development Lifecycle) - nice to have.

Desired Skills

  • Practical experience in threat modeling and translating models into mitigations and testable countermeasures.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) practices (secure design reviews, coding standards, developer enablement).
  • Practical incident response experience (IR playbooks, tabletop exercises, investigation coordination, post-incident remediation).
  • Experience planning, executing, and evaluating internal penetration tests and red team exercises (scope definition, detection validation, retesting).
  • Hands-on experience with supply chain and dependency management (SBOMs, automated dependency scanning, remediation workflows).
  • Active participation in security communities or public vulnerability initiatives (bug bounty programs, CTFs, open-source contributions, CVEs, or Hall of Fame recognition).
  • Relevant certifications or formal training in cybersecurity.

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Interview Process: 1 interview (30 minutes)
  • Contract: Service contract or permanent contract with Huxley
